Enhancement
When I enhance these Giclees I apply clear acrylic building textures that optically intensify the image. I use a wide selection of tools to apply different viscosities of transparent medium to create the effect of miniature lenses.
I follow curves with sweeping brushstrokes. Coarse bristle brush strokes create fine striations. The sharp grooves and peaks act as a Fresnel lens, catching and focusing the light below to give a scintillating effect.. A soft dagger brush creates a smooth ridge that catches a subtle highlight
Other times I choose a lower viscosity medium with a high surface tension to create tiny puddles or stipple that acts as spherical lenses magnifying the light and color.
A fine smooth flat brush or pallet knife with a high viscosity medium will create a tapered shingle that catches the light in an altogether different way
These effects are subtle and change as the point of view changes. Part of our perception of depth is from the different point of view of our two eyes.
That shift is called parallax and it's enough to cause these optical effects on the canvas.
From off axis, that is off to the side, these textures give the warmth and presence of a canvas original and the gallery wrap gives mass to the piece
